Craniosacral Therapy
CranioSacral Therapy is a relaxing whole body treatment that helps restore balance between the sympathetic (fight/flight/freeze) and the parasympathetic (rest/ digest/replenish) parts of the nervous system. Under ideal conditions the nervous system should be able to ebb and flow easily between these 2 opposing states, maintaining a dynamic balance between activity and restoration. Injury, illness or chronic stress can shift the nervous system into a sympathetic dominant state. CranioSacral Therapy can help improve the balance that is essential for self healing.
CranioSacral Therapy can be used as a primary treatment approach or can help augment other medical or therapeutic treatments. Treatment involves very light touch, and can be performed over light clothing, making it an appropriate treatment for all ages.
CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle light-touch, whole-body treatment technique developed by John E. Upledger, DO, OMM, that works with the body’s craniosacral system to support and nourish the central nervous system which helps to alleviate the aches, pains, and strains of life to improve coping mechanisms and allow for better management of stress and improve the body’s ability to self-care (Upledger, 1978).
SomatoEmotional Release
SomatoEmotional Release is an extension of CranioSacral Therapy that addresses both the physical and emotional aspects of disease or injury. This therapy combines hands-on craniosacral therapy techniques with verbal dialogue and imagery to help clients connect with their own Inner Wisdom to help resolve the residual effects of past trauma, old injuries and negative emotional experiences. This treatment emphasizes the connection between Mind, Body, and Spirit, and the innate self healing process.
Treatment sessions are booked for at least 90 minutes, although actual hands on treatment time may vary. This allows the treatment to unfold at a pace that is most supportive for your needs. If you have not had CranioSacral Therapy treatment in the past year, I recommend scheduling at least (2) CranioSacral Therapy sessions prior to SomatoEmotional Release.
